Essential Tools: What You’ll Need at Home

While our kit provides all the specialized artistic materials, you will need a few household essentials to ensure a professional, long-lasting finish. Before you start sculpting, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Oven

Used to bake the polymer clay once your design is complete. A standard kitchen oven or a dedicated craft toaster oven running at 130°C for 45 minutes works perfectly.

  • Baking Paper (Parchment Paper)

Essential for protecting your project from dust while building your polymer clay project. Also for your oven's surfaces and preventing the clay from sticking to any trays during the curing process.

Extra Tools: Handy to Have

  • Isopropyl Alcohol Spray

A "pro-tip" for clay artists. Use a light mist or a dampened cloth to smooth out fingerprints and prep the glass surface for maximum clay adhesion.

  • Hobby knife/Scalpel

To easily divide sheets of rolled out clay.

  • Acrylic Paint or Soft Pastels

If your wanting to add some extra colour and detail to accentuate your masterpiece use acrylic paint or soft pastels.

  • Cotton Buds/Tips
  • Paper Towels

Spells and Steps to Spawn Your Creation

Chapter 1: Spawning

  1. Have an idea in mind—sketch it up!
  2. Remove all attachments from the glassware.
  3. Clean your environment, tools, and canvas with either a cleaning wipe or, preferably, isopropyl alcohol. Lay down baking paper as your work area.
  4. Condition the clay: Roll the clay and fold it over itself. If it crumbles, knead it with your hands first. It is ready for use once a rolled-out sheet does not break when folded.
  5. Roll out your base color sheet and cut out shapes using a scalpel, then lay them onto the glassware. Gently apply pressure with silicone tools or gloved hands to adhere the clay to the glass, removing any large air pockets.
  6. Use your secondary colors to build up your masterpiece. Continue to use gentle pressure until you are happy with your creation.
  7. Use a cotton bud dipped in isopropyl alcohol to gently clean away any stray clay bits, dust, or fingerprints.

Bonus: Any extra clay can be made into jewelry, fidget stones, or small trinkets. Bake these right along with the glassware!

Chapter 2: Baking

  1. Preheat your oven to 130°C.
  2. Place a baking paper-lined tray on the bottom oven rack for your small trinkets.
  3. Using the wire connector provided, thread it through the glassware and weave it through your oven's top rack to secure the piece safely.
  4. Bake for 40–60 minutes, then turn the oven off.
  5. Leave the piece to cool completely before moving to the next stage (ideally overnight).
  6. Once cool, any acrylic painting can be applied.

Chapter 3: Glazing

Use gloves in a well ventelated area when working with UV resin.

  1. Clean the piece one last time with a cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol to remove dust or fingerprints.
  2. In small sections, pour the UV resin onto the clay and smooth it with silicone tools or a clean brush (note: brushes may harden after use with resin).
  3. Cure the resin using the lamp provided. Each section/layer will take 60–120 seconds.
  4. Work in thin layers. 2–4 layers will result in a smooth, professional surface.
  5. Rotate the piece often during the final cure until the resin no longer feels sticky.

Ta-da! Spell complete—well done.

Care Instructions

To preserve the life of the custom clay work, we recommend cleaning the interior glass with standard solutions while gently hand-wiping the exterior with a damp cloth.

Caution: DO NOT expose to alchol based products as it can cause the resin to tarnish or go cloudy.
